IN 1997, GAIL WARRIOR identified an unmet need among corporations and government agencies for a reliable provider of permanent modular buildings. As CEO and president of the Warrior Group construction company, Warrior has a job usually occupied by a man.
She scoped out a niche in which Warrior Group could be successful, and then, by using collaborative skills, positioned the company for phenomenal growth. It's now one of the fastest-growing privately held companies in Texas and has more than doubled its revenue in the last three years. Warrior Group continued to add staff in 2008 and 2009, as it went from $40 million to $124 million in annual revenue. Today it's the largest American construction-services company owned by a minority woman.

"If you have a dream, you need to hang onto it with everything you've got, because believe me, there will be challenges to overcome. There will be times when that dream becomes a nightmare! And even when you think you've 'made it,' there will always be problems to tackle along the way. I can promise you one thing, though: If you quit taking risks, you might as well quit now."
